    A Word from the Chairman

    The start of 2011 has seen a number of terrible natural disasters. In Australia, severe flooding hit Queensland and Victoria with Queensland suffering another blow from Cyclone Yasi. In New Zealand Christchurch was hit by a devastating earthquake that will have far reaching implications
    for the city and the region.

    Personal property securities regime

    The Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) (“PPS Act”) was passed as legislation in December 2009. Although the PPS Act has not received extensive exposure and attention, it is likely to have far reaching consequences for many businesses and the function of providing credit and finance.

    Funding business expansion

    As we rise from the depths of the GFC, businesses who have positioned themselves well – by focussing on efficiencies, should really now start to reap the benefits of those initiatives.

    Division 7A - another sting in the tail

    Those whose business structure includes a private company will most likely have confronted “Division 7A” at some stage over the 13 or so years it has been in operation.
