Welcome to Moore Stephens Wealth Management’s “Investment Strategies” – a newsletter that is designed to keep you informed on all things wealth.

Since our last newsletter, we would like to welcome some exciting new additions to both our division and the firm as a whole. David Foord finds out a little about our newest adviser, Nareena Aracas, and also briefly introduces the accountancy practice of Evans Buchanan which merged with Moore Stephens in April this year.
Turning to the markets, we have continued to see increased volatility over the last six months, with a number of concerns emerging that has increased market uncertainty about the immediate economic future. These concerns are discussed in more detail in the economic commentary section but can be summed up by a potential slow down in the US recovery, Europe sovereign debt issues and mixed signals coming out of Asia.

In this edition we also explore Asset Bubbles, Currency and Bonds.

In my article I look at the decade long growth of Australian residential property prices whilst making some comparisons to the crash in U.S. property before describing similar price ‘bubbles’ throughout the ages. In his article, David addresses the currency factor, focusing on the strong Australian dollar and softness in global asset prices. He poses the question of whether it is time to be investing internationally? Can an investor get more bang for their buck overseas rather than domestically? Finally, in her first article, Nareena looks at the benefits of including bonds in an investment portfolio.
As always, we hope you enjoy your read and look forward to any feedback you may have.
