Moore Stephens in Australia today announced a series of local appointments as the Moore Stephens International network posted record growth. Moore Stephens in Melbourne announced the promotion of two long-term team members to Partner. On 1 January 2007, Mr Ivan Shapiro was appointed a Partner of the firm’s Assurance Division and Mr Tim Olynyk was appointed a Partner of the firm’s Taxation Division.

Mr Shapiro has extensive audit and assurance experience. He advises both listed and private companies on AIFRS and technical issues with respect to audit, and has significant experience in due diligence work and the preparation of independent accountant’s reports for the issue of prospectuses and product disclosure statements.

Mr Olynyk has more than ten years’ experience in corporate taxation. Over that time, he has worked with listed and private companies, government bodies, trusts and partnerships. His particular areas of expertise include taxation of private group structures, property trusts, CGT and CGT concessions.

Moore Stephens in Sydney has appointed Mr Howard Badger to head its Taxation Division. Mr Badger was previously a partner with Deloitte in Parramatta. Mr Badger brings to the firm more than 18 years’ experience in providing taxation advice to leading middle market organisations.

Moore Stephens in Sydney West (Parramatta) announced that the practice of B. Pickup and Co. merged with the firm on 1 January 2007. B. Pickup & Co. is a Parramatta-based practice with specialist skills in Forensic Accounting. The firm’s principal, Mr Brian Pickup, and his team of five experienced staff will enable Moore Stephens in Sydney West to develop its Forensic Accounting Division in line with its long-term business plan as well as grow the core areas of Business Services and Audit.

Internationally, Moore Stephens is also enjoying success. Following the December 2006 International Accounting Bulletin World Survey, Moore Stephens International Limited has moved up two places in the league table from last year, to 11th.

The network’s fee income increased by nearly US$200 million to US$1,543.7 million, (2005 – US$1,350.6m, 2004 – US$915.2m), a growth rate over the last two years of more than twothirds, making Moore Stephens International the world's fastest growing network from 2004 to 2006.
